4 Tips for Building Your Personal Brand

So you are ready to start an online business or take the business you already have to the next level? Whether you sell digital products, courses, or are in a network marketing business, there is one thing I believe to be true. Build a business around your personal brand!

I have had an online business for the last three and half years and have made a lot of mistakes. One of the biggest mistakes was to start a business around my company name. When I started my online business, I was a teacher in a district. I worked full-time all day and then spent time during the wee hours of the morning working online. I would never have imagined quitting my job and working this full-time.

Your career matters. Whether you are an entrepreneur or working for someone else, if you are on the Internet you personal brand is important. Click on the picture to learn my four tips for building a business around you.

Life happens, and you never know what GOD has in store for you which is why building a business around your personal brand is a great option for an entrepreneur. Your brand can evolve over time, but your business may not be able to because you have boxed yourself into a corner.

Build a Business Around Your Personal Brand

You may be thinking, “Jen, I don’t have a personal brand.” Well, you do. Everyone does if they are on social media but many don’t consider that when starting a business. People build their business around their products. Doing so can limit you and can also hinder your know, like, and trust factor. You don’t want this to happen.

So now that you know you have a brand let me share a few tips to consider as you ponder this “aha” moment.

  1. Reflect on Who You Are – What matters to you? What do you want your legacy to be and how will you get there? These questions are not just for your business but in every aspect of your life. Why? Because to be successful, you must learn to take care of yourself.
  2. Provide Value – What is your value proposition? What do you want to offer the world? Why does your business matter to others? Once you have figured this out, then give value to your audience and don’t hold back. People appreciate you when you are authentic and real. People need to be able to know, like, and trust you.
  3. Understand Who You are Trying to Serve – One of the biggest mistakes I made when I first started is not recognizing my target audience. I just sought to be something to everyone and ended up being nothing to nobody.
  4. Put Yourself Out There – Once you are clear on who you are and what you are all about, it’s time to get to know people. I have met a lot of fabulous people online, but I know I need to get out in my community more and meet people face-to-face. There are a lot of options when trying to network with like-minded people. Join groups, develop tribes, and genuinely care about others. You need people to build a business. Pssst, by the way, it’s NOT all about you! Please do NOT spam people to death. You can get the word out about your business in other ways; I promise.
